Unprecedented

Oh my heavens.

I've crossed over to the other side.

The side where mothers no longer have babies, and rather, they have little kids

My sweet Mia, my darling girl, is celebrating her 5th birthday today.  SHE IS FIVE YEARS OLD.

I don't...

I don't...

I don't know how to do this.  Five seems monumental, you know?  A major age, right?

Not all of us are happy about this.

Just kidding -- she's delighted, of course.  I'm the one who cried on my husband's shoulder for twenty minutes last night when the reality hit me.

But I somehow rallied long enough to make ill-formed chocolate chip pancakes this morning.

And those are just about all the words I can spare for this post.

She's five

  2. I have so been there. My sweet little baby is nine almost ten. They grow way to fast and become adults before you know it! (Although, I still wouldn't mind skipping the teenage years!)

  4. Happy Birthday Mia! Just wait Sarah when your little 5 year old will be 19! Our youngest, Andrew, will be 19 on the 22nd of this month! Time really does fly when looking back. Enjoy the 5's,6's... and so on! You have heard it said, "Enjoy them when they're little. These are the best years of your life!" Well, I trust my best years are NOT over(life begins at 50 right?) but when they are little enough to need mommy to kiss their boo-boos and heal all the other hurts, and come running just to be near you....SAVOR EVERY MINUTE!!!
    Happy celebrating!!

  5. 5 freaks me out. Luckily I have 6 more months until my "I-have-a-five-year-old" cryfest :D

Once again, the happiest of birthdays to your sweet girl!

  7. I KNOW. My oldest turns 7 this year. And my youngest will be three. Kids ages 3-7 are not babies, not at all, not even a little bit! An era is over, whether I admit it or not.

  8. Oh girl, I hear ya. 5 was a toughie. And then before you know it, she's 5 1/2! ;) If only we could keep time in a bottle...

On a lighter note, those pancakes are awesome! What a great idea! And Happy Birthday, sweet Mia!

  12. Happy five! She's beautiful. I've gotten weepy over every birthday thus far, and we've only made it to 3. I'll likely be a basket case at 5.
