It is the night before a birthday party. The house is messy. Toys are strewn, dirty dishes are stacked; two tired little girls are getting ready for bathtime. Two tired parents are overseeing a disastrous bedroom straightening operation.
Suddenly, they all notice that the smallest girl is missing. They move around, trying to locate her, because they've had experience with a silent child before: silence scares them. They know not what to expect.
From the kitchen, the biggest girl yells, "UH-OH!" The parents race from the back rooms to see what's happened, what the smallest girl has done.
The mom's mind is whirling...what could she have possibly gotten into? There's nothing reachable by a tiny toddler....
Except the cooling cakes. For the next day's birthday party. The tiny toddler has scaled tall chairs and forbidden tables in order to reach the waiting cakes. Her work was not unrewarded.
Thank goodness Mommy has a sense of humor.
And 18 hours before party time.
(More on the party tomorrow...it was wonderful despite its doubtful beginnings.)
You either gotta laugh or cry eh?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, my dog did the same thing a few years ago. I will admit that I stood there for a minute and thought, "You know no one would know if I just filled in the hole with whipped cream." I didn't but I wanted to.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I've seen worse, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThat could be a scene from any one of our night before birthday parties! What else to do but laugh!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Nice! We made iced sugar cookies today and Eli pulled the same stunt :D
ReplyDeleteOh that is so funny! I love it...
ReplyDeleteHehe! I also had cake issues this weekend. I hope you did just fill it with frosting and pretend like it never happened :)
ReplyDeleteCrack me up! Good thing it was the night before! Can't wait to see pictures!
