(Mostly) Scenes From My Weekend

It's curious.  The more cleaning I do during the week, the messier my house is by the weekend.  Then, I need a necessary shake-off of the weeklong cabin fever; I want to go play.  I'm usually hustling us all out the door on Saturday mornings while Justin begs to do nothing.  We are a boiling teakettle and a block of ice -- ruining each other's idea of relaxation.  Or maybe just melting into one another.  (That sounds much nicer.)

But this weekend we stayed mostly put.  I wandered uselessly (because more cleaning would make the weekend into a copy of one, interminably regular week) and Landon rummaged in the pantry for hours on end.

Justin was recovering from a pinched nerve or a herniated disc or the end of the world, and the girls were making a jungle in the sunroom or tearing cushions off couches for acrobatic scenarios.

This was our weekend.  In the shell of a dull (but surprisingly sweet) nut.  Join us next time when we venture into the realms of actually having done something.  Something exciting and adventurous, like, maybe, walking around the mall looking for the penny-funnel thing so the kids can experience true art and physics all in one.

Bigger Picture Blogs is hosting Scenes from My Weekend starting today -- what did YOU do this weekend?

  1. For some reason the "gymnastics" legs in the air seem to capture the hanging around feel...just kids settling into the moment and making it come alive! It is the sum of all this 'ordinary' that adds up to something pretty special!

  2. I like "recovering from a pinched nerve or a herniated disc or the end of the world" because oh my God that is exactly how it feels.

Your world always looks so peaceful, Sarah. How do you do that?!

  3. Oh Sarah. Don't you know that it IS hard to recover from the end of the world? ;-) Love this and miss you!

  4. I love the picture of the girls' legs dangling in the air! I also want your couch. It looks so comfy! I love this glimpse into your weekend. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Any time my husband hurts his back I'm pretty sure it's the end of the world! Not that he mentions it, ever, being a stoic type. Not that the two year old starts complaining about HER back hurting because she's heard it so much, or anything :)

Hmm...And how did that make you FEEL?
