Fancy That

You can lead a toddler...

To a fancy dinner....

But you can't make her eat.

Hope your Valentine's Day was as happy as ours!  (And maybe even -- if you were very lucky -- free of meltdowns!)

  1. I love that Lauren seems to be wailing in the last picture and Justin's just sitting perfectly calmly behind her. Ah, life with toddlers :)

  2. Heh :) You are so right, Lenae! We've become used to the occassional meltdown at the dinner table. Plus, just being honest? The dinner was SOOOOO GOOOOOOD that distractions were hard pressed to come between us and our forks :)

(Minus Lauren, of course -- she hated it all. Down to the most innocent grain of white rice.)

  3. Oh no, what a sad little girl on the last photo. However, I will agree with Lenae and it does really look as if your husband is enjoying his meal :)

Our meal was meltdown free, but instead involved my kids who were busy giggling and messing around instead, which led to an equal amount of frustration and many near-incidents.

Happy Valentine's Day any way!! :)

  4. I love the way you decorated the table, Sarah! So pretty and elegant...and I love that Lauren didn't care one bit! Did Mia have fun though? I think a fancy Valentine's dinner sounds like a thrill!

  5. Happy Valentines day! That last pic is priceless! What a great idea to have a fancy dinner as a family on valentine's.

  6. Somehow toddlers never seem to get the memo about special occasions...or maybe they do. :)

  7. Haha, I also love how Justin seems completely unperturbed.

  8. Anthony (not my toddler as you know) is just NOW eating the right way. Holy moly we had epic toddler tantrums back in the day. Dinner time was never my favorite time of day. It is nice that things have changed so much and that Domo actually eats. The pictures represent your dinner oh so well. I hope you enjoyed your dinner nonetheless chica.

  9. And you took pictures! Those will come in handy some time during the teenage years.

  10. When we ask my son to have a "thank-you bite" of carrots (I see the offending orange vegetable on Lauren's plate), he obliges. But he chews and chews and chews and chews, as if actually swallowing it might result in his hair turning blue or something. With the minutes his incessant chewing adds to dinnertime, it's almost not worth it anymore!

Hmm...And how did that make you FEEL?
