Tuesdays Around The World: Today

Uncle Eric coerces a kiss from Lauren Jade.

This is one of the reasons I've never really left home for any length of time. This is why I can't imagine life away from a supportive network. This is why I love my hometown, why I'm happy to stay, why I'm content to raise my kids here. This is one of the reasons I was so happy to have children of my own, and why I know they'll always be surrounded with love.

It's my family.

They're all here, all available. They're all involved in my kids' lives. They're all welcoming and encouraging and supportive.

They are one of the things that makes me happy today -- every day.

Today, I am thankful for my family.

  1. I love this post. I feel the same exact way. I could never move far from them. They give me support and love and strength. Without them, I am nothing.

  2. Your post has made me all nostalgic!! I know what it is to have your family around especially with kids. Since we have relocated, we have left everybody behind & feel strange in this new land!!!! My children miss their grandparents and cousins the most!!!!

  4. So agree with you. We moved away from family for 5 years to a beautiful seaside village. I was so homesick. when we moved back home to this rural community everyone was "Why on earth would you do that, leave the beach????"
    One word answer. Family.

  10. It is SO nice that you feel this way. I sometimes wish I had been content to stay near home. Then I wouldn't miss my mommy so much. I just never felt I was meant to be where my parents and their parents chose to make a life. I miss them all so much.
I do love my wanderings and the world I've seen and live it, but sometimes home is home.
