Perfectly Poetical Tuesday (Cinquain)

Thanks to Stephanie for hosting PerPoTues! This month's poetry style is the Cinquain: yet another poem that I'd never heard of before. Not that that's a big deal -- I haven't heard of most poems. It's one of the many reasons I love Perfectly Poetical Tuesday.

Pumpkin

Once carved,

Can only decay

Leaving a molded frown

Deflated

  1. I like it! I love the way pumpkins turn into old people as they deflate.

  3. Again with your beautiful mix of every day tragedy and comedy! You described the post-Halloween let down perfectly.

    Thanks for joining in!

  4. Sweet picture to accompany!

This must have been a piece of cake for you after that Poe-ian (?) masterpiece you penned last month.

  6. This is so great. I love that you're doing this.

I looked at the pic before reading and thought of a frown. Love your words.

LOVE the pictures in the leaves from an earlier post too.

  7. You did a great job!! I, too, have never heard of most poems. Have you ever checked out Laura's Bad Haiku Friday? She's at Catholic Teacher Musings. You might enjoy reading/ participating in that, too:

  8. Udubalum Mama - This one was quite a bit quicker than last month's, that's for sure. But in some ways it was still challenging. I knew I wanted to write something about that cute picture, but when limited to a small number of words...well...that's not easy for me :) I'm wordy. I'm really glad you joined in this time! (Everyone else too...this is so much fun!)

Heather - Go ahead. You know you want to do one too. Just think of all the perfectly poetical converts YOU could bring over to the dark side...

Dawn - That does look like something I'd like. Thanks :)

  11. Great poem!!

I've been reading yours since you started and this is the first one I've attempted. This cinquain seemed like a good one to start with----but, I agree, deceptively easy. ;)

  12. Nice! Not feeling brave enough to try the poem thing myself, but I like what you came up with.

  13. I love yours! You're such a creative writer. I always enjoy the way you turn a phrase. In fact, you inspired me to join in this month. Well, you and the fact that it is cinquain month.

  15. I'm a little late and I'm not really playing with the rest of the kids, just you. ;)

I remembered this poem form when I wanted to post something today. Thought I'd share. Check it out here.
